At a glance
- PhotoSwipe works entirely on your iPhone or iPad.
- Your photos and videos are never uploaded, copied to a server or shared.
- There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no tracking.
- Anonymous usage statistics help us improve the app. They never include your photos, your name or anything that identifies you, and you can turn them off in the app.
- We, Laratian, don't sell or share data with anyone.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Your photos and videos
PhotoSwipe asks for access to your photo library so it can show your photos and videos as cards you can swipe. You choose the level of access in iOS, and you can change it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → PhotoSwipe.
Your photos are read and displayed on your device only. PhotoSwipe has no server and does not transmit, upload or analyze your photos anywhere else.
Photos are deleted only when you tap Delete in the app's trash and confirm in the dialog iOS shows you. Deleted items move to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where iOS keeps them for 30 days before removing them permanently.
Data stored on your device
To work, PhotoSwipe keeps a small amount of information on your device. It never leaves your device through PhotoSwipe.
| What | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Your swipe decisions (internal photo identifiers marked "keep" or "delete") | So reviewed photos don't come back and your trash is remembered | App storage |
| Activity statistics (counts, daily swipes, streaks, achievements) | To show your progress on the Profile tab | App storage |
| The name you optionally enter | To personalize your Profile | App storage |
| Settings (theme, haptics, video sound) | To remember your preferences | App storage |
| The number of free swipes used | To apply the free allowance fairly | iOS Keychain |
Deleting PhotoSwipe removes its app storage. The free-swipe counter is kept in the iOS Keychain, which can remain on your device after the app is deleted. It contains only a number.
App storage may be included in your iCloud or computer backups, depending on your device settings. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple.
Purchases
PhotoSwipe Lifetime is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and handles your billing information under Apple's Privacy Policy. The app receives only a confirmation from Apple that the purchase is valid, so it can unlock unlimited swipes. We don't receive your name, email address or payment details.
What we collect
PhotoSwipe has no account system and no advertising. It sends us anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU. We use them to understand how the app is used and to make it better, for example to see whether the free allowance is the right size or where people get stuck.
| What's sent | Examples |
|---|---|
| A summary of each visit | Number of swipes, keeps and deletions, albums opened, session length, items deleted and their total size |
| Key moments | Finishing onboarding, choosing a photo access level, seeing the paywall, and whether a purchase or restore went through |
| Purchase details | The product, price and currency, sent by the app when a purchase completes (no payment details) |
| App and device context | App version, iOS version, device model, language, region, theme, accessibility settings, a rough library size range and whether you've bought Lifetime |
| A random identifier | An anonymous ID that's hashed on your device before it's sent, so visits can be counted without knowing who you are |
Usage statistics never include your photos or videos, their contents, file names, locations or dates, the name you enter in the app, your Apple Account or any advertising identifier, and TelemetryDeck doesn't store IP addresses. They aren't linked to your identity or used to track you across apps and websites, and we don't combine them with data from anywhere else.
Turning it off: go to Profile → Privacy and switch off Share Anonymous Usage Data. The app then stops sending statistics immediately.
Other network activity goes to Apple's own services: the App Store for purchases, and iCloud Photos when iOS downloads a photo you've stored in iCloud.
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us aggregated, anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These don't identify you, and we use them only to fix bugs.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply, and delete the conversation when it's resolved unless you ask us to keep it.
Third parties
PhotoSwipe includes one third-party software development kit: TelemetryDeck, which processes the anonymous usage statistics described above on our behalf. You can read TelemetryDeck's privacy policy. We don't sell, rent or share data with anyone else, and we don't use advertising or data-broker services.
Children
PhotoSwipe doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). The anonymous usage statistics described above can't identify a person.
Your choices and rights
We don't hold personal data about you. Usage statistics are anonymous, so we have no way to look them up for a particular person. Everything else PhotoSwipe stores is on your device, and you're in control of it:
- Turn off anonymous usage statistics in Profile → Privacy at any time.
- Change or revoke photo access in iOS Settings at any time.
- Reset your statistics, or bring kept photos back into your albums, from the Profile tab.
- Delete the app to remove its app storage.
These rights apply to you wherever you live, including under the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Changes to this policy
If we change how PhotoSwipe handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. If a change is significant, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
